Dr. Karin Dodge Magee, PhD
Licensed Psychologist, PY9860
Adolescent and adult counseling services
I completed my Ph.D. at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have extensive experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties. I specialize in working with families transitioning to parenthood and new mothers struggling with postpartum depression. Having extensive experience and training in health psychology, I also treat patients challenged by disordered or binge eating to improve their wellness through weight loss. We collaboratively focus on changing health behavior with an emphasis on nutrition and mental health.
Prior to relocating to Florida, I worked for many years in a private practice setting. I was fortunate to work with adults, adolescents, and children. I maintained a clinical appointment at Brown University for more than ten years, working as Clinical Director of the Early Childhood Clinical Research Center. During this time, I conducted research in the areas of postpartum and maternal depression, infant temperament, and family functioning.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in addition to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to provide evidence-based treatment. By incorporating mindfulness strategies and techniques into treatment sessions, I help my patients gain awareness as we thoughtfully work towards goals. My approach to treatment is positive, practical, and tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
I am happy to share I am now seeing patients in the office on Saturdays.
