Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) designed specifically for working with individual’s who experience emotions very intensely. Strategies are taught and used to identify and change negative thinking patterns in order to move towards positive behavioral changes. While DBT was designed to treat individuals with suicidal behavior and borderline personality disorder (BPD), it has been adapted for other mental health concerns that threaten a person’s safety, relationships, work and emotional well-being.
