I grew up in the Tampa Bay area, and I completed my Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of South Florida. While at the University of South Florida I conducted research on adolescent girls with a history of behavioral disorders and self-harm to identify the function of their behaviors which led to intervention development and treatment. I obtained my specialization in the area of child and adolescent psychotherapy. I utilize a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach, with habit reversal training (HRT) and exposure response prevention (ERP), as needed, depending on the individual needs of the person I am working with. I am constantly training and researching to stay abreast of the most evidence-based treatments possible.
I completed my doctoral internship with Hillsborough County Public Schools and continued to work in the school district for 16 years, while teaching for the school psychology program at NOVA Southeastern University and working as a licensed school psychologist in the private sector. While working for the local school district, I gained experience in educational and collaborative consultation, evaluation and data analysis, intervention planning, and IEP development.
While most of my training has been working with preschool aged children through college aged adults, I also evaluate and treat adults of all ages and have a passion for working with the LGBTQ+ population. I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of developmental, educational, and behavioral disorders, and I have experience completing full psycho-educational assessments in both the school and private practice settings. I have experience assessing for giftedness, learning disorders (such as dyslexia and dyscalculia), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anxiety, depression, and a variety of other psychiatric disorders. I specialize in providing individual and group counseling in the areas of anxiety, social skills, anger management, and emotional regulation, and I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Through working for both the school and private sector, I have gained insight into multiple perspectives and am able to support children and families in a more well-rounded way.
